Subscribe NowIf you’re using the latest version of Google Chrome to sure the web you may not realize that you already have a bunch of tools for safer browsing.
Let’s get started with a couple simple checks: First navigate here chrome://settings/safetyCheck
Now you should be looking at your Chrome settings Safety check Tab
Running the chrome safety check should look at your browser protection level. See that your browser is up to date and that you are not using any easy to steal passwords.
Perhaps most importantly it will check your third-party chrome browser extensions and plug-ins. (This is often the source of compromises on your computer.)
After you finish the scan and see all is well. Be sure to clean up your browser by clicking “Clear Browsing Data”. I like to do this every so often as it ensures my browser is running with no legacy internet bloat in my temporary files. It also makes it much harder for third-party data tracking and reporting to get a detailed list of my browsing decisions. (Think about all those retargeting ads you are seeing. Sometimes you might be wondering how did they even know I was in the market for a plot of moon land or a discount divorce attorney?!) That’s a joke but you get the point.
Clearing this out is a good start to keeping your data private.
